About 61 Miles

What is 61 Miles?

61 Miles is a series of hikes at various parks in the Polk County area that total 61 miles. Hiking can be one of the most spiritually and physically rewarding activities you can do for yourself and our desire is for you to experience what we experienced on the Appalachian Trail- the place of inspiration for this ministry.

Who can participate in 61 Miles hikes?

Anyone – male or female – who is old enough to understand “quiet time with Jesus” and will follow the format is welcome to participate. This would be a perfect time to take your little ones to a sitter for a couple of hours and allow yourself some concentrated alone time with Jesus! Generally speaking, ages 12 and up are appropriate for these hikes.

What should I expect?

While participating in 61 miles, you will have a short time of prayer and devotion as a group, followed by a hike- quiet at first, then sharing with one another as you’re on the trail.

Our wish is that as you hike with the High-King, you listen for His voice, feel His healing, reflect, and grow closer to Him and each other while in the natural beauty of His creation.

We want you to walk at your own pace – “Hike your own hike”. Slow down, breathe in His goodness, and enjoy His gifts to you on the trail.

How does it work?

You can sign up for hikes here on our website, and two days before the hike, we will email you with the location of the hike.

You can also join our closed Facebook group. There, you will find the date, time, and location of the future hikes.

Come to as many hikes as you like. Our hikes will range between 3 and 8 miles, but all will be fun! Once you complete 61 miles you will receive a Sixty-One Acres bag of goodies!

What should I bring?

Dress appropriate for the weather and wear comfortable hiking or tennis shoes. We suggest a bottled water, snack, sunscreen, a light backpack or fanny pack, and your phone in case of an emergency or to take a picture.

Where will we meet?

We meet at various parks and trails in Polk County.
When registering for a hike, you will notice that the city is provided, but not the exact location. Once registered, you will receive the exact location of the hike two days before via email.
